Austral Masonry acquires Ayr Concrete Masonry

In a major shake up for the Queensland construction industry, Austral Masonry has acquired Ayr Concrete Masonry - manufacturer of a wide range of concrete masonry products.

The acquisition is part of Austral Masonry's expansion into the Queensland concrete masonry market - along with the purchases of Austral Masonry Proserpine (formerly Whitsunday Concrete & Block), Austral Masonry Caloundra (formerly Caloundra Block) and GB Masonry, Gympie.  The new businesses will all trade under the Austral Masonry brand, with standard masonry blocks sold under this brand and premium masonry sold under the GB Masonry brand.

According to Ross Dallimore, QLD General Manager - Austral Masonry, the acquisitions provide exposure to fast growing markets in Queensland's north and south-east, as well as a presence in both the premium and standard masonry markets.

"This will strengthen the company's position as a leading supplier of building products to consumers and the building industry in Queensland - increasing our manufacturing capacity  to over 250,000 tonnes. It is an exciting development, with the acquisition at Ayr and previous acquisitions allowing us to provide a greater range of products and services to our customers - backed by our technical expertise and support."

"As a result, there will be increased efficiencies in production and distribution.  With the support of investment in research and development the real winner of these acquisitions will be Austral Masonry customers and the local community.  The Ayr acquisition will provide employment and training for local people that otherwise may not have been available.  It will also open up opportunities for nearby suppliers and contribute significantly to the local economy" Ross added.

This latest acquisition, coupled with a continuous focus on quality and service, strengthens Austral Masonry's goal to build a better future for their customers.
